NASHVILLE/MIDSOUTH CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES

The Nashville/Midsouth Chapter grants Regional Emmy® Awards for programming seen on broadcast, cable, or broadband..

In addition, the chapter grants The Governors’ Award for Lifetime Achievement, and inducts quarter-century veterans into the Silver Circle.

A separate section is devoted to the Student Production Award for high school projects.

Producers of material seen in more than 50% of the country are eligible to enter the national awards.

Midsouth Emmy® Awards

Material broadcast, cablecast, or webcast in the Midsouth Region, which encompasses the States of North Carolina (except Asheville) and Tennessee, plus northern Alabama, from July 1 to June 30 is eligible for entry.  Official entry forms are available in July of each year, with entries to be uploaded by early September through the Emmy® Express system.

Nominations are announced during the week before Thanksgiving.  Emmy® Awards are granted at a banquet and live telecast in Nashville In February..

Given in recognition of achievements by individuals, organizations, or companies, which do not fall within the structure of the Chapter’s regular categories.  The Board of Governors’ Award is for truly outstanding and unique accomplishments and achievements of some duration and durability.  For this award, an Emmy® statuette is given.

Silver and Gold Circles

The Circles are  societies of honor. Television professionals are inducted to recognize significant contributions made by these individuals to our industry for 25 years or more for Silver Circle, or 50 years for Gold Circle. The award is a rosewood plaque.  In nominating individuals to be inducted , the following should be included:

  1.  Service to the television or media-related industry
  2.  Service to The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
  3.  Service to the community
  4.  Service to people working or training for careers in television or allied media.

National Awards

The National Academy recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy® Award for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime Entertainment, Daytime Creative Arts & Entertainment, Public & Community Service, Technology & Engineering, and Business & Financial Reporting.
